New research from job site reveals how salaries for exactly the same job vary based on location
When it comes to earning, it’s less about who you know, or even what you know – and more about where you are that counts. According to new research from CV-Library, there is a substantial difference in salaries for doing the same job depending on where in the UK you work.
Focusing on 24 locations across the UK and Republic of Ireland, and analysing 167,000 jobs posted on a job board, the research suggests that someone looking for jobs in Belfast could surprisingly earn more money working in telesales than they could as a quality engineer. Driving a bus in Birmingham could net you £34k – while up the road in Sheffield, the same job would only get you £15k.
It’s always been the case that you can earn more working in London – you need to, it’s an expensive place to live, work and play – and there is always the issue of local supply and demand, but it’s heartening to see that you can still earn a decent salary without having to head to the Big Smoke.
